THE FOUNDATION

Scent + Self™ is an initiative through Scent & Fire Candle Company to raise awareness around Mental Health through curated experiences, to provide resources and information for those seeking help, and to create a community of individuals who are on a mission for mental wellness.

Only 35% of men and women consistently make time for self-care, and that percentage is significantly decreased within Black and Latino communities. Furthermore, Black adults in the U.S. are more likely to report persistent psychological distress than white adults, and only 1 in 3 Black adults in the U.S. who need mental health care will receive it. There are many racial disparities in health care, especially for Black patients. On top of that, mental health care is oftentimes stigmatized and looked at as a pricey privilege in Black and Brown communities.

To battle these statistics, we are providing access to resources, creating safe spaces, and changing the landscape of mental health in marginalized communities.

Starting in Q1 2022, the Scent & Self Foundation's first initiative is to provide sponsored therapy sessions for men, women, and children in marginalized communities. Each sponsored patient will receive 4-5 therapy sessions from certified and licensed therapists via video chat. Our first round will sponsor patients will be fore Texas and California residents, and by Q4 2022, we hope to be able to sponsor patients in all 50 states in the US.

Please check back in Q4 2021 for more details.
